Overview
Built into the dashboard of a car is an integrated computer console known as DashPC which was interfaced from the center console to a mounted 6.4” VGA LCD display.
Explanation
Aside from the LCD touchscreen, the platform of the DashPC is interfaced through multiple input methods like a handheld wireless keyboard with pointing device and wireless remote control. One of the most advanced carputers is the DashPC telematics where its technology virtually works in any vehicle. Some of the features included in thes DashPC prototype vehicles include an OBDII onboard engine interface, DVDs, and GPS.
The startup and shutdown of the computer is transparent to the user and is being handled by the BS2-IC. The computer begins to boot one second after the car is started. The in-dash VGA LCD turns ON when the Linux operating system is ready to be used. The DashPC simultaneously offers powerful expansion capability while being designed to be simple to use in a vehicle environment.
