E realization: Mounting components

Tags

An electronic component must be mounted correctly in addition to being well knit. Different criteria of sense for mounting and placement must be respected. Control of an electronic card can begin with a general visual inspection of each component and, in particular its connections (lugs or son).
The electronics can relate to the criteria of the industry standard IPC-A-610D defining the acceptability of electronic assemblies.

Ideal realization (according to IPC-A-610D)

- The component marking is readable.
- The components are centered between their pellets.
- Non-polarized components (resistors, plastic capacitors, inductors) are assembled so that all their markings can be read in the same direction (from left to right or up and down).

Mounting desired components

Acceptable achievement (according to IPC-A-610D)

- All components comply and mounted on good pellets.
- In manual assembly, the polarization markings are readable (chemical capacitor, diode, transistor ...).
- The polarized components are mounted in the correct direction.
- marking unpolarized components do not read in the same direction.

Acceptable components mounting

Poor achievement: default by IPC-A-610D

An electronic component is mounted on the wrong pellets.

An electronic component is mounted upside down: not respected polarity a diode or a capacitor.

Mounting default

Mounting pin

The through parts can be blown up to reduce the area occupied on the printed circuit. In the sketches below, the arrows point to the capacitor's negative terminal.

Ideal realization

- Reading top to bottom of component markings
- polarity markings placed at the top

Acceptable achievement

- Polarized component mounted with a long leg grounded
- not visible polarization marking
- Low Reading top of component markings

Faulty implementation

- Not complied Polarity

Practical advice

These rules defined by the IPC-A-610D standard does not cover welds components.
For installation of an electronic card, it is interesting to first mount the lowest components(straps, resistance) and eventually the highest (large capacitors, radiators, terminals). A visual inspection is very useful.
